New AES Editors

Dear Members of the Academic Community and Friends of AES,

The Board of Directors of the Academy for Educational Studies (AES) is proud to announce the appointment of two new editors, Dr. Amy Van Buren and Dr. Laura Rychly, to lead our distinguished academic journals: Critical Questions in Education (CQIE) and Thresholds in Education (TIE).

Following an extensive search for a visionary editorial team capable of guiding our publications into their next chapter of academic excellence, the Board is confident that our incoming editors will continue to uphold the rigorous standards and diverse perspectives that define AES.

Meet the Journals

Our new editors will oversee the stewardship of two distinct pillars of educational scholarship:

  • Critical Questions in Education (CQIE): First published in January 2010, CQIE is a traditional, online, open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal. It is published three times annually (January, June, and October), providing a vital platform for rigorous critique and dialogue surrounding contemporary educational issues.
  • Thresholds in Education (TIE): Serving the academic community since 1975, TIE is a guest-edited, theme-issue journal published 1–3 times annually. Since AES assumed leadership of TIE in 2015, the journal underwent a revitalization of its aesthetic and focus, successfully converting from a print-only publication to an online, open-access format.

A Note of Distinction and Transition

As we welcome our new editors to the helm, the Board of Directors wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to our outgoing editorial leadership, Dr. Eric C. Sheffield. His dedication has been instrumental in solidifying both journals as accessible, high-quality venues for foundational and cutting-edge educational research.

Please join the AES Board of Directors in congratulating our new editors as they step into these vital roles. We look forward to the fresh insights, scholarly integrity, and innovative directions they will bring to CQIE and TIE in the coming volumes.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors The Academy for Educational Studies (AES)
