Critical Questions in Education (CQIE)

Critical Questions in Education (CQIE) is an online, open-access, national, double-blind peer reviewed scholarly journal published three times annually by the Academy for Educational Studies. CQIE invites manuscripts generally foundational in orientation–particularly those grounded in philosophy, history, sociology, etc. CQIE also invites qualitative and/or mixed methods research articles that are grounded firmly in the social foundations tradition. In addition, CQIE publishes reviews of current books and films. CQIE is indexed by EBSCOHOST, ERIC, GALE, and CITEFACTOR.

Thresholds in Education
 (TIE)

Thresholds in Education (TIE) is an online, open-access, guest edited journal published annually by the Academy for Educational Studies in partnership with the Thresholds in Education Foundation. Beginning in 2015, the Thresholds editorial committee began inviting leading figures in the field of educational scholarship to guest edit annual special topic theme issues of the Thresholds journal. Beginning in 2023, the Thresholds editorial committee began accepting proposals for theme issues of TIE. Guidelines for proposals are available here. TIE (1975-2015) was formerly attached to Northern Illinois University’s Department of Leadership, Education Psychology, and Foundations. TIE is indexed by EBSCOHOST & GALE.
